ENEA International Fellowship Programme 2013

Call for Application 2013. Deadline: February 21, 2014
With the purpose of contributing to the creation of the European Research Area, the ENEA International Fellowship Programme aims at helping researchers to reach or reinforce a position for professional maturity and independence.
In this framework, ENEA invites applications for 7 international research fellowships open to researchers willing to spend a mobility period working in ENEA Casaccia Research Centre.
The deadline for applications is February 21, 2014.
Fellowships are being awarded to early-stage researchers with less than four-year research experience, since gaining a University diploma giving access to doctoral studies, and experienced researches with at least four years since gaining a university diploma giving access to doctoral studies, or already in possession of a PhD, and up to ten years of research experience.

Process Research Engineer, DTU, Denmark

The Department of Physics at the Technical University of Denmark has an opening for a process research engineer to develop state-of-the-art nano and micro devices in the research group of quantum physics and information technology (QPIT).

QPIT is performing basic and applied research in quantum optics, spintronics, and quantum information processing. The mission of the group is to investigate new quantum technologies that can be used to develop ultraprecise quantum sensors and for the development of super-fast quantum computers of the future. The active research group comprises a mixture of university professors, research assistants, and PhD students. The group is internationally recognized for its contributions in quantum information processing.

We seek a highly motivated process engineer to develop new high-quality nano- and micro-structured devices of Silicon, Silica and, in particular, Diamond using different etching and deposition techniques. The candidate will also participate in setting up a new system for diamond growth using PECVD.

The position is part of a new collaborative project on quantum magnetometry that involves partners at DTU Electro, Ulm University, Leipzig University, Hvidovre Hospital, and Unisensor A/S. It is funded by the Danish Strategic Research Council by 14MKr. The aim of the project is to exploit the unique quantum properties of color centers in diamond crystals to develop new innovative magnetic field sensors (magnetometers) with unprecedented sensitivity and/or extraordinary high spatial resolution.

Qualifications
We are seeking a person with the following skills:
  • Preferably a PhD degree within optics/photonics, physics, or engineering, or a similar degree with an equivalent academic level
  • Extensive experience with different etching and deposition techniques, in particular RIE, PECVD, LPCVD, and sputtering
  • Experience with fabrication and characterization of micro- and nano-structures
  • Familiarity with working in a clean room
  • Fluency in English – written and spoken
We offer
The successful candidate will join a young, dynamic and international research group with a strong vision. The research program includes quantum photonics, micro-photonics, quantum plasmonics, opto-mechanics, solid state optics, and spintronics. More information about the group can be found on the homepage: QPIT.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary will be agreed with the relevant union. The position is to be filled as soon as possible. The employment period it three years with the possibility of extension.
